Jim Pope has 13 years of direct experience in commercial real estate. Prior to Fulton Peak, Mr. Pope was an Associate at Newmark Knight Frank where he was responsible for business development and facilitating sales of multifamily assets including overseeing client engagement and due diligence. In addition, he was responsible for the valuation, market research and financial modeling activities of these assets. During 2016, Mr. Pope underwrote more than 175 Mid-Atlantic properties with a combined value in excess of $5 billion.
Prior to joining Newmark, Mr. Pope worked with the Capital Markets and Mortgage Operations divisions at Fannie Mae specializing in reporting and forecasting for Fannie Mae’s $3.2 trillion book of business. Prior to Fannie Mae, he held engagements with the Multifamily Investment Sales group at Cassidy Turley, various groups at Jones Lang LaSalle and the development team at Sunrise Senior Living.
Mr. Pope holds a B.S. in Finance with a minor in Entrepreneurship from Miami University as well as a Master in Professional Studies in Real Estate from Georgetown University.
Jack Cottrill has 9 years of experience in investment banking, consulting and commercial finance. He began his career in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Wells Fargo Securities where he advised middle market clients across a broad range of industries.
Following Wells Fargo, Mr. Cottrill served as a Vice President at Enverra Partners, an investment banking, strategic advisory and project development firm based in Washington, DC. At Enverra, he worked on a variety of private capital raises, M&A transactions and strategic advisory projects in the US, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
Following Enverra, Mr. Cottrill served as a Vice President at Milberg Factors, one of the leading private commercial finance firms in the US, where he identified and underwrote transactions throughout the southeastern US. Mr. Cottrill also served as an Advisory Board Member at Verterra Energy, a modular hydropower technology company founded in 2010 to harness the power of water to produce clean, reliable energy.
Mr. Cottrill attended Washington & Lee University where he served as a captain of the golf team and graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Accounting & Business Administration. He lives in Raleigh, NC with his wife and two children and enjoys playing golf and cheering on the Carolina Panthers.
Charlie Garner has 9 years of commercial real estate experience, with an emphasis in financial underwriting and market research. Previously employed at Cushman & Wakefield in Washington, DC, Mr. Garner has been influential in all stages of the investment sales process. He has assisted in the sale, marketing, or valuation of more than 5.7 million square feet of assets worth over $1.7 billion.
Prior to joining the Capital Markets Group, Mr. Garner spearheaded Market Research efforts across the DC Metro region for Cushman & Wakefield, supporting approximately 150 leasing agents as well as the Capital Markets Group itself.
Mr. Garner holds a B.A. in Mathematics with a Minor in Entrepreneurship & Social Enterprise from Wake Forest University as well a Masters in Real Estate degree with a Concentration in Finance through Georgetown University.
Mr. Garner lives in Charleston, SC with his wife and two bernedoodles, enjoys playing golf, and is an avid football fan.
Kyle Hetherington has 9 years of direct experience in the multifamily space. Previously employed by Blackfin Real Estate Investors, LLC, Mr. Hetherington supported the acquisition activities of the venture’s investment portfolio, during which time the firm acquired ~$500 million of multifamily assets across 18 properties from Boston through North Carolina.
Prior to joining Blackfin, Mr. Hetherington worked in Greystar’s investment group. There he was responsible for supporting the acquisition, disposition, financing, and asset management of investments in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Mid-West. Over his tenure at Greystar, he assisted in the acquisition of nearly $400 million of multifamily assets. Prior to joining Greystar, he worked at The Carlyle Group where he supported the Asia Buyout investment team in fundraising, financing, deal structuring, and portfolio company valuation within the Fund Management group.
Mr. Hetherington graduated from Washington & Lee University with a B.S. in Business Administration. He lives in Raleigh, NC with his wife and two sons and enjoys playing golf and hunting in his spare time.
